Corona is the result of ionization of gas (air, oxygen, etc.), which is caused
by a high voltage field. This extremely destructive phenomena usually results
in slow degradation of insulating materials that can result result in latent failures. Careful design, consistent manufacturing processes, eliminating air entrapment in encapsulation, and a thorough understanding of corona causes are required to minimize this problem. |
